Today we headed to a ‘barrio’ – Las Palmas de Herrera. Barrio’s are neighborhoods in outer rim of the city and this particular one is a lower income community. We were doing a medical outreach to the community, working alongside Pastora Micaela Casado who pastors a small but growing church.
The doors opened around 10am and people came from all over to be seen by the physicians. At the end of the day:
- Over 135 Dominicans were seen and give medication,
- 15-20 nutritional consults,
- Handed out half a dozen bibles and many other materials for the children,
- And over 100 people were prayed with.
